The P47.8-million Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial District
Hospital in Isabela, Negros Occidental is now ready for use, Rep.
Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5th district) said yesterday, adding
that P15 million worth of hospital equipment is also expected to
arrive soon.
The 50-bed hospital, which will cater to the health needs
of the 5th district residents and neighboring areas, is also expected
to decongest patients at the provincial hospital in Silay City.
The provincial government of Negros Occidental had provided a counterpart
of P22.8 million to the P25 million allocated by President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo to the construction of the secondary hospital in
Isabela.
Governor Joseph Maraņon said the new hospital in Isabela will
compliment other secondary hospitals, such as those in the cities
of Kabankalan and Cadiz.
Maraņon added that they will also upgrade hospitals in other
areas of Negros Occidental.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental yesterday
granted Maraņon authority to sign the memorandum of agreement to
be entered into between the provincial government and the Department
of Health, in relations to the upgrading of the Vicente Gustilo
Memorial District Hospital in Escalante City, of P1.6 million.
Dr. Melvin Ybanez, Isabela vice-mayor, said the old Isabela Hospital
will be converted into a transient quarters for watchers of patients
confined at the Ignacio Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital, who
will be stranded in the town.*GPB .
