Mia, Anya lag behind

Filipina Regina De Guzman fired a 3-under 69 yesterday to emerge as the opening-round leader in the Thailand Ladies Open at the President Gold and Conference Center.

Bacolod-born shotmaker Mia Piccio is four strokes behind De Guzman with a 73, while Anya Tanpinco was a shot behind Piccio. Piccio looked headed for an under-par round but she triple bogeyed the 16th, allowing compatriot Cyna Rodriguez to move ahead of her with a 71, Piccio's father, Ernesto "Boy" said.

Piccio's teammates Dottie Ardina and Chihiro Ikeda registered similar 73 rounds.*CPT
