Coffee Dream five
trounces Lopue's
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

Fresh from steering Probac to an impressive second place finish in the Tan Kek Pin Cup, Ryan Concha and Peewee Demonteverde joined hands to power Coffee Dream past Lopue's, 90-82, Monday night at the start of the Probac inter-color basketball tournament in Bacolod City.

Concha, the TKP Cup Most Valuable Player, drilled 26 points, while Demonteverde poured 15, including crucial baskets down the stretch to snatch the game from Lopue's at the newly-refurbished West Negros Collge Gym, the club's new and permanent home. Coffee Dream trailed until the final three minutes of the game when its dynamic backcourt duo started to toy with the Lopue's defense.

Ex St. La Salle guard Robby Jalando-on paced the Lopue's squad of Jan Jan Lopue with 18 points, while new Probac member Lorenzo Solinap, who used to play for the Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, added 12.

Lopue's actually controlled the game early on with Wesnecan Mark Jimenez firing 10 points in the opening quarter and White De Los Santos sustained the momentum by dominating the third period, before Demonteverde and Concha came into Coffee Dream's rescue.

A press release from the group said the inter-color tournament will serve as training ground for the two teams it will be fielding in the LN Agustin Sports Foundation tournament.

The two Probac teams that will be fielded are Gilbert Sy's Probac-WBT Sports Fabrics and PaoPao Lim's Probac-Coffee Dream, the press release added.*PP
