City attracts new investor

Another business entity has indicated an interest to invest in Dumaguete City, Mayor Agustin Perdices said.

He said Mister Donut plans to put up a branch and four other satellite stores at the public market area, after McDonalds opened last week. Perdices said the coming in of several investors will bring about employment opportunities to the residents, on top of the taxes the city government will be earning.

He added that Robinson's Mall, which is under construction, is expected to open for business either late this year or early next year.

Asked if the mall business is detrimental to smaller stores, Perdices said that when Super Lee Plaza, the biggest department store in the city so far, came to the city, the smaller competitors survived, and even improved their business operation because of competition.*RA
