Teves hopes for
peaceful polls

"Let's fight in words not with bullets," Rep. Herminio Teves (3rd District, Oriental Negros) told all candidates for the May 14 elections.

Teves was reacting to the ambush in La Libertad that killed seven, including Barangay Aya Captain Lydio Baylon. He said the incident could be related to the intense political rivalry in the first district.

Teves said he is participating in the political scenario because La Libertad Mayor Jocelyn Limkaichong is the official candidate of LAKAS Party, and he is the provincial chairman of the provincial LAKAS Party.

He said he is hoping that all the congressional candidates play fair in the elections in order to get clean votes.

Although he admitted that he is saddened at the political scenario, he said he is still positive that a peaceful and honest election will take place.*MA
