The La Carlota drumbeaters will add to the festive mood at 8 a.m. today when Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Marañon of the Nationalist People's Coalition and his team file their certificates of candidacy at the provincial Commission on Elections office in Bacolod City.

The governor will be accompanied by his runningmate Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco (Lakas), and congressional candidates Alfredo Marañon III - second district, Jose Carlos Lacson (Lakas) - third district, Jeffrey Ferrer (NPC) - fourth district, and Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino) - fifth district, and their candidates for the provincial board.

Before the filing of his CoC, Ferrer accompanied by the La Carlota drumbeaters, will hold a caravan from La Carlota that will pass the towns of Pontevedra, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pulupandan and the city of Bago in the fourth district on its way to Bacolod.

After the filing of their CoCs, Marañon said his team will proceed to Isabela to inaugurate the 25-bed Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital so the patients can be transferred and the hospital operations can begin. NPC BETS NAMED

Businessman Monet Lacson who resigned from the Lakas CMD is filing his CoC for mayor of Talisay City this afternoon.

Councilors running under his ticket are CB Lacson, Jose Marie Astorga, Artemio de Asis, Wilfredo Ibrado, Alfonso Alontaga, Jesus Clavecillas, Ismael Penado, Edgar Montalvo, Nick Lamata and Joseph Anthony Jareno.*CPG
