Guard files complaint
versus wife of mayor

A security guard complained against the wife of a town mayor for an alleged illegal search in Brgy. Canjusa, Pulupandan town, Negros Occidental. at about 8:20 a.m. yesterday.

Security guard Kim Untal Amacio, 26, single, of Brgy. Pag-ayon, Pulupandan reported to the police that Evelinda Mondia, wife of Pulupandan Mayor Luis Mondia, searched his body and that his P500 in cash and a condom were missing later, police reports said.

Mayor Mondia, meanwhile, denied the allegation against his wife and called the report "stupid and politically-motivated". "How could a woman search a man and cause the loss of his personal things?" the mayor asked.

Meanwhile, Evelinda Mondia told the DAILY STAR in a phone interview last night, that at the time of the alleged incident she was waiting for fish from a boat and had sat beside Amacio. She said she only borrowed a magazine from Amacio, but she did not search him as he claimed.

Mayor Mondia, who has not yet decided if he will seek re-election in the May polls, said he did not know Amacio and he has no idea about his allegations.*DMG
