BY MARICAR ARANAS

Rep. Herminio Teves (3rd District, Oriental Negros) has slammed the provincial Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for transferring to Cebu the witnesses to the ambush in Sitio Manluminsag, La Libertad on March 9, where a barangay captain and six civilians were killed.

Teves said the pullout on March 17 was made without permission from the Task Force Manluminsag, and police provincial director S/Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, who heads the task force.

The witnesses were identified as Ignacia Salimbagat, Jorlan Baylon, Edencito Beli-ot, Amaida Facturan, and Julito dela Cruz. Teves said the move of the CIDG indicated an effort to hide the truth, and intended to delay the filing of the case. He said he believes that somebody very powerful was behind it
