Valencia farmer knifed
BY RENE GENOVE

A 45-year-old man was stabbed in Barangay Pulang Bato, Valencia, in Oriental Negros Saturday, the police said.

Rushed to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital was Proculo Salboro, a farmer, of Barangay Pulang Bato, while the suspect was named as Ronilo Maano, 23, also a farmer, and living at the same place. Maano used a 12-inch knife in the stabbing.

Initial police investigation revealed that, before the incident, Salboro, who was drinking intoxicating liquor with his friends, allegedly threatened to kill the suspect.

Upon learning this, Maano rushed to the victim and stabbed him on the back, and then voluntarily surrendered to responding policemen.

Meanwhile, Jorly Mayola, of legal age, married, farmer, of Sitio Bato was hacked with a bolo, in the right leg by Romeo Bulo, 48, Wednesday at Sitio Bato, Barangay Calango, in Zamboanguita.

Police investigation disclosed that the victim and his friends had invited the suspect to a drinking spree. A misunderstanding occurred later when the group reminded Bulo of an incident eight years ago, where he was hacked on the stomach by Mayola.

The suspect surrendered to the Zamboanguita police but the weapon was not recovered. The victim was rushed to the NOPH.

Police said the weapon could be in the hands of the victim's companions because they were the ones who disarmed Bulo after the hacking.*RG
