The Citizen's Movement for Good Government endorsed candidates
they will support in the May election at a gathering Saturday at
the Bacolod Christian Center in Bacolod City and said they are endorsing
Vice Mayor Renecito Novero, former Bacolod police director Chief
Supt. Vicente Ponteras and independent candidate Councilor Lyndon
Caņa for congressman, mayor and vice mayor, respectively.
Novero is running under the Nationalist People's Coalition
and Ponteras under the Liberal Party.
Mike Enabe, CM-Govern executive director, said they are endorsing
for councilors Nanette Garcia, Roberto Tan, Wilson Gamboa Jr., Jonard
Baldonado and Augusto Montelibano.
Ponteras said that if elected mayor of Bacolod, he wants to
restore order in the city by running after criminal elements particularly
the "Akyat Bahay" gang, although he failed to mention anything about
the problem on illegal drugs.
He said he wants to be known as the Rodrigo Duterte or Alfredo
Lim (Davao Mayor and former Makati Mayor, respectively) of Bacolod.
Ponteras said he believes the Salabas case will not affect
his candidacy since his name was not included in the case filed
in Gihulngan, Negros Oriental. He said even the fiscal said it is
unbelievable for him to be involved in the case since he was the
provincial police director of Negros Occidental at that time.
He said he is in favor of the new government center project so
if he will be elected, he will have a new City Hall.*CGS
