appointed Bago judge

Cadiz City Prosecutor Frances Villena Guanzon has been appointed presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court of Branch 62 in Bago City.

She is the eldest child of retired RTC Judge Sixto Guanzon, and former Board Member Elvira Guanzon. Appointed First Assistant City Prosecutor of Cadiz City in 1988, and promoted as City Prosecutor in 1991 at the age of 35, she became the youngest city prosecutor in Western Visayas then.

She graduated as valedictorian from high school in 1970, studied at the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 1970, but transferred to Siliman University in 1972 when Martial Law was declared.

She graduated from Siliman University with a Bachelor of Science in General Science degree in 1975, and from the University of Negros Occidental Recoletos-Bacolod with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1980.

She took the bar examinations in 1980 and passed in the same year with a rating of 82.1 percent.

In 1991, she was commended by the Secretary of Justice Franklin Drilon for outstanding performance as City Prosecutor.*CPG
