St. La Salle capped its NOVA-NOCSF Age-Group Volleyball Championship campaigned with three crowns, highlighted by a brave fightback in the girls' 16-Under finals yesterday at the USLS College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

A set away from yielding the crown to La Carlota City, the La Sallians battled back, winning the next two sets to erase the twice-to-beat edge, before finally nailing the crown with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-20 triumph.

Dancel Jan Dusaran was named Most Valuable Player of the division, after leading La Salle to the crown. Dusaran was also instrumental in the 22-25, 25-22, 25-22 victory that forced a winner-take-all showdown.

SAN CARLOS, MA-AO,
BAGO REACH U-17 LAST 4

Defending Under-17 champion San Carlos City progressed to the semifinals as expected yesterday but its Under-15 squad was unexpectedly shown the door by powerhouse Celta de Victorias.

Represented by Don Bosco Technical Institute players, Victorias advanced in both divisions, owing to better goal difference as they kept their hopes for a double crown, achieved last year by San Carlos.

The San Carlos booters hardly broke into a sweat, winning by default against Handumanan United to complete a sweep of Group A at the Bacolod City National High School pitch.
