Angeles to skip Palaro

Bacoleņo Charles Ellis Angeles who plays for the Iloilo Commercial Central High School in Iloilo will miss the Palarong Pambansa calendared for April 22-28 in Koronadal, South Cotabato as he is set to train at the La Salle-Greenhills this summer, or might leave for the Unites States for a caging camp in Houston, Texas.

Angeles, an athletic scholar at the Iloilo Commercial Central High School, was recruited by La Salle-Greenhills, and had been lured by 12 prestigious teams from Manila, Cebu and Bacolod.

Standing 5-foot-11, the 12-year-old Angeles steered Iloilo to a title-clinching 74-67 triumph over Negros during the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet held in February in Bacolod City. His father Ely Angeles is a former regional official of the Games and Amusements Board.

Honed by coach Bong Conlu of Iloilo Commercial Central High School, his father said they are thankful for the help extended by Dexter Dy, team manager Kim Santos, and neighbor Toto Maderazo who first taught his son the basics of basketball.*
