seized in raid on leftists
'HOUSE COULD BE NPA SAFEHOUSE'

Combined teams of the police and military arrested two Bayan Muna organizers and confiscated unlicensed firearms and subversive documents from their house in Guihulngan, Oriental Negros, on Saturday.
Arrested allegedly for illegal possession of firearms
were Emelia Quirante, chairperson of Bayan Muna in Guihulngan, and her
brother, Toto. Armed with a search warrant issued by Dumaguete Regional
Trial Court Executive Judge Lualhalti Bustamante, intelligence operatives
of the Negros Oriental police headed by Senior Inspector Errol Pineda,
assisted by the 11th Infantry Battalion Bravo Company soldiers, swooped
down on the house of Quirante in Sitio Casanday, Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan,
at about 3 a.m. Saturday.

Shabu
peddler convicted A man was found guilty for illegal possession of illegal drugs, while a woman was acquitted, by the Regional Trial Court, Friday, at the Hall of Justice, in Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City. Found guilty of possessing 0.35 grams of shabu was Joseph Abimelech Lacsican, while Marilou Ramirez was cleared of the same charges in another case, court records showed. Presiding Judge Rafael Crescencio Tan, Jr. of RTC Branch 30 found
Lacsican guilty of violating Section 11, Article II of Republic
Act. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He
was ordered to pay a fine of P400,000, court records revealed. |
