120,000 bags of
rice shipment arrives

The National Food Authority in Negros Occidental said 120,000 bags of rice from Vietnam arrived in Bacolod City last week to boost stock inventory of the province.

The supply is part of the 490,000 bags that will be shipped to Negros Occidental this year.

NFA Provincial Manager Marianito Bejemino said the province will have adequate supply of NFA rice especially in the coming lean months, from June to August.

Bejemino has urged all Bigasan ni Gloria sa Palengke operators, accredited individual retailers and Tindahan Natin operators to sell NFA rice at a prescribed price of P18/kg.

He said that, because of the good quality of NFA rice, some retailers might be tempted to pass it off as commercial rice and increase its price.*NLG
