Action in the NOFA Under-15 and Under-17 Provincial Football Championships shifts into high gear starting today when semifinal berths are staked at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College pitch in Talisay and the Bacolod City National High School field.

The provincial Under-13 9-a-side tournament and the Under-17 Ladies Championship will also kick off this weekend at the University of St. La Salle pitch.

The spotlight, however, falls on the Under-15 showdown between powerhouse squads San Carlos City, the defending champion, and Celta de Victorias. The two teams go into the 1:30 p.m. Group A match tomorrow at the CHMSC pitch with unbeaten records, although San Carlos is ahead on goal difference, meaning a draw would see the reigning champion through to the semis.

The possibility of hiking its collection to a tournament-high five crowns looms large for the University of St. La Salle as four of its teams remained on track in the NOVA Age-Group Volleyball Championships, which enters its final weekend at the USLS College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

La Salle takes the court against St. John's Institute at 8:30 a.m. for the girls' 12-Under crown, before the girls' 14-Under team clashes against Negros Occidental High School in the finals two hours later.

The La Sallians defeated Bacolod City National High School, 25-20, 25-17 Sunday to stay in contention in the boys' 16-Under division. But USLS would need to beat St. Joseph's School-La Salle at 8:30 a.m. to gain the right to battle Victorias in the finals on Sunday.
