Man hangs self
A Handumanan resident allegedly hanged himself in
Bangga Totong, Brgy. Felisa, Bacolod City, at about 1 a.m. yesterday,
making him the third case this month in the city.
Alma Jemiera Chavez, 40, reported to Police Station
10 that she found her husband, Danilo, 41 with a nylon cord around
his neck and hanging from the ceiling of their comfort room, police
reports said.
Alma Chavez told the police she woke up when
she noticed her husband was no longer in their bed. She said she
was shocked to see his body in the comfort room. Due to her nervousness,
she said, she untied his husband and brought him to the funeral
parlor. She said she later reported the incident to the police.
She told the police her husband has been suffering
from tuberculosis for five years.
Last week, a 27-year-old man from Purok Mars,
Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City reportedly hanged himself with
a nylon cord in his room, police reports said.
On March 6, a 65-year-old man slashed his wrist
with a bladed weapon and was found dead by a relative at his residence
in Hacienda Consolacion Ramos, Brgy. Granada, in the city, police
reports also said.
On Feb 25, a 71-year-old inmate also committed suicide
by drinking 120 ml of Malathion pesticide at the lock-up cell of
the Bacolod City Police Office, police reports said.*DMG

Cadiznon
apprehended
for rape try
A fishball vendor was arrested by the Cadiz PNP for
allegedly attempting to rape a 17-year-old girl in Brgy. Zone 1,
Cadiz City, Negros Occidental at about 2 a.m. yesterday.
Arrested was Renato Odanggo, alias "Tata", who
was positively identified by the teenager as the one who broke into
their house and touched her body, police reports said.
PO3 Rey Hinojales and his companion arrested Odanggo
at his residence and brought him to the police station for investigation,
police reports said.
Meanwhile, the Cadiz PNP also arrested Freddie Logatiman
Cayagan, 51, at Sitio Kamongohan, Brgy. Cabahug, Cadiz City at about
8 a.m. Thursday, for violation of Presidential Decree 705, section
77, or Illegal Logging Law, police reports said. Cayagan was apprehended
on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Rodney Bolunia
of Bacolod City. The apprehending team was led by Cadiz PNP operatives
SPO1s Jessie Lucero, Francisco de los Reyes, Greg Banadera, SPO3
Zalde Esperancilla and PO1 Arnold Tolentino, under the supervision
of Chief Insp. Jefferson Descallar, police reports said.*DMG
