Last termer member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental, Reynaldo Depasucat has confirmed that he will run for congressman of the 3rd district, under the Liberal Party.

"The district was ruled only by one person for 16 years," Depasucat said, is apparently referring to Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson.

Depasucat served as a mayor of E.B. Magalona from 1986 to 1998. He was a board member representing the 3rd district of Negros Occidental from 1998 to 2007.

Now is the time for change, he said. This will be a fresh start, setting a new direction for the good of the third district, he added.

He said some congressmen cannot stand without a "pork barrel." But for him, he added, with or without pork barrel, he will represent 3rd district in Congress.

He said former Bombo Radyo anchorman Rey Siason is his candidate for board member, and he will run under the Liberal Party - Senator Franklin Drilon wing.

If will win, I will rule, If I lose, I will bow my head. But, Depasucat said, "I will make a good fight to see to it that the people will be given the right to choose this coming election, and the right of suffrage will not be stifled through machinations or compromises".*GPB
