House damaged by fire

Fire damaged a two-storey residential house in Purok Macapeņa, Brgy. 6, Bacolod City at about 11:05 p.m. Wednesday.

The blaze started at the room of Richie and Christian Vargas located at the northeast portion of the house, and burned other light materials, fire reports said.

Richie Vargas sustained first-degree burns on her right wrist.

Initial reports showed the fire which gutted about P150,000 in property, was caused by an unattended lighted candle.

The fire was contained after 15 minutes with the help of firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Chamber and Amity Volunteer Fire Brigades, reports also said.*DMG

Man nabbed for loose gun

A man suspected of causing alarm and scandal was arrested by the police yesterday in Brgy. San Fernando, Talisay City, Negros Occidental for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban.

Chief Inspector Thomas Joseph Martir, Talisay police chief, yesterday identified the suspect as Rogie Ocbena, 28, of Hacienda Ambulong in the barangay. Martir said the arrest of Ocbena made by a police team led by PO3 Jose Rommel Samson, yielded a homemade .38 caliber revolver with four ammunition.

The suspect is now detained at the Talisay police lock-up cell.*GPB
