The Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II will energize barangays
Fatima, Calicanan, and San Isidro in Pamplona, Oriental Negros using
allocations from the provincial government.
Barangays Fatima and Calicanan were scheduled for energization
in December last year but were hit by typhoon Melinyo, resulting
in damage to all electric posts.
NORECO sources said it will complete the re-installation of
electric posts before the year ends.
Board Member Melimore Saycon (2nd District, NegOr) said the
Sanguniang Panlalawigan has allocated P839,000 for the electrification
of Barangay San Isidro.
Saycon said the council hopes to energize all barangays in
the province by 2010, using the P15 million in royalty funds.
The eight barangays not yet energized are Fatima, Calicanan and
San Isidro in Pamplona, Apoloy and Mantikil in Siaton, and Mandu-aw,
Kalantukan and Villareal in Bayawan City. Salgado said energizing
the hinterland barangays will cost about P300,000 per kilometer.*MA
