Gretchen endorses Ferrer
BY CARLA GOMEZ

SAGAY CITY -- Environmentalist and philanthropist Gretchen Cojuangco yesterday said she is endorsing the candidacy of La Carlota Mayor Jeffrey Ferrer as congressman of the fourth district of Negros Occidental.

Cojuangco had initially announced her plan to run for the congressional seat but later withdrew her bid, and the Nationalist People's Coalition named Ferrer its official bet for congressman of the fourth district. Cojuangco said Ferrer, who is her Godson, should be voted into office because "We need young and dynamic leaders."

Cojuangco, in her statement after she decided not to run for public office, said "I have come to the conclusion that it is better to continue pursuing my personal advocacies for women, children and the environment outside of politics; that the Almighty Father would rather I remain in private life, doing my duties as a wife, mother and grandmother."*CPG
