Man jumps off
ship, missing

A 20-year-old man who jumped from a ship at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday was still missing yesterday.

Lt. Commander Edgar Ybañez, Philippine Coast Guard Bacolod chief, yesterday said that the search and rescue team of the Coast Guard was still looking for Babit Dalisay, of Barbasa, Antique who had jumped off the MV Tabuelan Lavistar.

After reports of the incident, rescue teams of the coast guard on board the Sto. Niño vessel and BRP Nueva Vizcaya AU3502 were dispatched from the BREDCO port in Bacolod City to conduct the search and rescue operation for Dalisay, Ybañez also said. The operations lasted until 7 a.m. yesterday but Dalisay's body could not be found, Ybañez said.

The BRP Romblon AU3503 is still looking for the body. Ybañez said Dalisay's companions did not notice any signs that he had problems.*CBM
