I'm not seeking
mayoralty post

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Provincial legal officer Erwin Vergara said he considers rumors being peddled that he is running for mayor in Bacong town, Oriental Negros, as a "squid tactic" and "black propaganda" aimed at confusing the supporters of Mayor Rodolfo Yee and divert the attention of residents.

Vergara said Yee is performing well in Bacong, and is needed to propel the municipality to progress, and sustain plans and programs.

He said he is contented with his job as provincial attorney and, if indeed, he was eyeing the position, Vergara said he would have done it in Mabinay where he was former vice mayor and also chairman of the Provincial Councilors League. Vergara, whose wife is from Bacong has called on Baconganons to unite and rally behind the leadership of Yee.

Meanwhile, in Dauin, two former mayors have joined forces against incumbent Rodrigo Alanano.

Former Mayor Jeffrey Araula signified his intention to run for the post with his possible running mate, also a former local chief executive, Felicisimo Deleņa.

Araula, however, said he would not want to disclose his plans and programs until he has filed his certificate of candidacy on March 29. As the incumbent provincial warden, he will be deemed resigned when he files his CoC.*JG
