The 2007 IYAS Creative Writing Workshop sponsored
by the University of St. La Salle Negrense Studies and Development
Center in collaboration with De La Salle University and the National
Commission on Culture and Arts, is now accepting applicants for
the 15 fellows who will receive grants for the April 23 - 28 Workshop.
Applications may be submitted on or before March
30 to Dr. Gloria Fuentes of the College of Arts and Sciences, or
call Tel. 4346409, a USLS press release said. The resource persons
are DLSU Professors Dr. Cirilo Bautista, and Dr. Marjorie Evasco,
Genevieve Asenjo; Dr. Elsie Coscolluela ( USLS), Dr. Antonio Tan
( MSU-Iligan), and John Iremil Teodoro ( USA - Iloilo), the press

student leaders,
scholars to receive awards
Scholars of the Recoletos Educational Assistance
for Deserving Students will be awarded tomorrow, after the 8 a.m.
paraliturgical praise at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos
Auditorium, a UNO-R press release said.
The UNO-R Scholarship Office under Rev. Fr. Emeterio
Buñao, OAR will award certificate of recognition to 46 graduating
READS scholars, 7 Sports scholars, 7 special scholars, 13 OAR recipients
of dependent scholarships , 12 recipients of faculty-employee scholarships,
2 Performing Arts scholars, and 37 government scholars, as well
as Entrance and Resident academic scholars.
Mary Rose Villarosa will be awarded as 2006-07
Model READS, while Alfredo Tejones III is the Outstanding Sports
scholar.
The office of Student Welfare and Student Affairs
will also recognize nine The Outstanding Student Leaders. They are
Ivan Catalan, Nestor Dugayo, Jr., Rose May Lagtapon, Welyn Libo-on,
Edda Opeña, Junry Pasinabo, Marisal Belle Perido, Salvador Subaldo,
and Chairmaine Uymasuy, the press release said. Student leaders
to be awarded are Ma. Ariza Magalona - UNOSSGO president; Charby
Tasic - COF chairperson; Marlo Amar Maridable - COF PIO; Romylen
Germinal - Arts and Sciences; Cyrosalene Bernal - Engineering; Jinky
Cervañez - Infor Tech.; Edson Combong - Criminology; Joseph Neil
Dugayo - Business and Accountancy; Rutchelle Gay Harder - Education;
and Happylen Ramos - Nursing.
The first recipients of the Sto. Thomas de Villanova
Service Awards are Triccie Delfin, Salvador Subaldo and Meg Urmeneta.
Eleven students will be awarded by the Philippine
National Red Cross, the press release added.*
