The Philippine Coconut Authority in Oriental Negros will sponsor
a seminar on the latest technology for processing coconut by-products
into high value coconut products next month, in Dumaguete City.
It will discuss the process of making the filtered bio-diesel
utilizing crude coco oil, coco sugar, coco flour and virgin coconut
oil, and will be participated in by representatives from local government
units, private companies, and individuals. PCA provincial manager
Brendan Trasmonte said the seminar will also encourage LGUs and
investors to try the new technology.
Resources speaker will be Dina Masa from the Department of
Food Technologist-PCA Central office.
Trasmonte said several individuals have inquired from his office
about the process of making coco sugar.
Coco sugar is highly recommended for diabetic persons.
Trasmonte said coco sugar is now only available by order at P200
per kilo in PCA central office in Manila, and Korea is asking for
an unlimited supply.*MA
