ILOILO CITY -- The site of the old Iloilo airport
is up for sale to investors, the Department of Finance announced
on Monday.
DOF Undersecretary John Phillip Sevilla, chair
of the bids and awards committee of the old Iloilo airport, said
they are now accepting bids for the 54-hectare property in the
Mandurriao District here.
The deadline for the submission of documents by
prospective buyers is on March 27 while the bidding will be held
on April 24. The property is estimated to cost from P500 million
to P2.5 billion, according to the DOF. The proceeds of the sale
will go to the national government.

Colet mining,
Sipalay council asked
Anti-mining group Defend Patrimony-Negros said in
a press statement that about 200 farmers from the upland barangays
of Sipalay City will troop to their Sangguniang Panglungsod today
with a petition to reject the mining operation of Colet Mines
in Brgy. Manlucahoc.
Colet Mining Development Corp., presently engaged
in confirmatory drilling in Sipalay, Hinobaan and Candoni, was
granted with Mineral Production Sharing Agreement by the Mines
and Geosciences Bureau 6, covering a total mining area of 2,965.100
hectares for copper, gold and molybdenum. 


Fish
processing
lecture-demo set
The Department of Science and Technology, in partnership
with the Negros Economic Development Foundation Inc., will hold
a lecture-demonstration and training on Fish Processing Technology
on March 29 and 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at NEDF Technology
Center, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, a press release from
DOST said.
To be taught are modern procedures in making Portuguese
sardines, Japanese tempura, Chinese quekiam, shrimp kropek, squid
rings, fish ball, squid balls and other fish processed products.
