Tourist arrivals up 6%
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Tourists arrivals in Dumaguete increased by six percent, with nationals from the United States of America, Japan, Korea, Switzerland and Australia topping the list, the City Tourism Office disclosed.

Tourism officer Imelda Jaybee Aquino said most of tourists love to stroll in the boulevard, go to beautiful beaches and other attractions in the mountains.

Some tourists also headed to other destinations in Oriental Negros such as Lake Balinsasayao in Sibulan and Lake Balanan in Siaton.

Aquino said more tourists are expected this summer after Dumaguete's hosting of two international events last month. These are the 2nd International Rondalla Festival, and the 10th EAFONS of Silliman University.

She said Dumaguete is the jump-off point of tourists especially those coming from Europe, whose original destination is Negros Occidental, especially the white sand beaches in Sipalay City.*MA
