clash for crown
TKP CUP BEST-OF-THREE
FINALS START TONIGHT

It took a solid defensive effort from Davies Paint-Probac late in the game to dethrone BBC in the 7th Tan Kek Pin Cup Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Deeply motivated by a string of losses against BBC, Probac finally prevailed, 93-92, Wednesday night and clinched a place in the best-of-three finals, where it will meet pre-tournament pick Valiant Bank.

Kirk Tupas reserved his best for last, translating two steals into to two breakaway lay-ups to key Davies' victory at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

AFC futsal event

The Philippines qualified for the Asian Football Confederation Futsal Championships for the first time, after posting two victories to finish second in its group in the qualifying stage held in Taiwan recently.

The Filipinos, drawing a hat-trick from Ariel Zerrudo, downed the Maldives, 5-2, Monday at the Hsin Chuang Gymnasium to join Group B winners Lebanon in the main tournament to be hosted by Japan in May.

Goals from Bacolod-based captain Ali Bernard Goand Peyman Nedajsafavi sandwiched Zerrudo's three goals in the space of three minutes bridging the first and final periods.
