Job seekers in Oriental Negros will have good chances of landing
jobs with the holding of a jobs fair on March 31at the Lamberto
Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City.
Around 25 local and overseas recruitment agencies have been
invited to participate in the event, which is the first of a series
of job hiring this year to be conducted by the Negros Oriental Association
of PESO Managers, in coordination with the Department of Labor and
Employment.
NOAPESOM is an association of 32 public employment service
office managers in local government units and schools in the province.
Marez Ramirez, provincial employment services officer and president
of NOAPESOM, said they are eyeing a turnout of between 4,000 and
5,000 applicants.
"We scheduled it in time after graduation, so the event will
attract fresh graduates as well," Ramirez said.
He added that they are also targeting TESDA-trained beneficiaries,
skilled and unskilled workers and professionals.
Ramirez said jobs fairs have proved to be the most appropriate
and effective way of bringing job seekers and providers together
in one place. Job seekers will be spared from the costly expenses
of traveling to other provinces in their search for better, commensurate
and profitable job opportunities, Ramirez also said. They will also
be protected from so-called "fly-by-night" recruiters, he added.
The recruitment agencies and employers invited to the jobs
fair are legitimate and recognized by the Department of Labor and
Employment and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
NOAPESOM held its first job fair last December which drew
around 3,000 applicants.*RG
