Habito to speak
at USLS forum

Former Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Cielito Habito will be the resource person at the "Annual Forum on The Business and Economic Prospects for 2007" of the Institute for Negros Development of the University of St. La Salle on March 9, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Sanctuario de La Salle.

Habito will provide a brief hindsight and foresight analysis of the Philippine economy in 2006 and 2007, the IND said.

Another part of the forum will be a roundtable sharing and discussion on the performance, projections and concerns of the various industries/sectors.

IND said that 2007 is a strategic year for business and economy as the country holds its mid-term election for both local and senate seats. The year also signals the last three years before the implementation of the Philippine commitment of a zero tariff on sugar.

It is in this light and as part of its strategic activities, it said, that it is holding the forum.

Bro. Vincent Fernandez, FSC will give the words of welcome; IND Chairperson Daniel Lacson will deliver the rationale; and IND Director Cesar Villanueva will introduce Habito.*NLG
