The Bacolod police will file charges against seven Negrense artists
who allegedly damaged their patrol cars when they attempted to prevent
the arrest of one of their companions in an establishment at 22nd
Street, Bacolod City Saturday.
Chief Insp. Armando Tubongbanua, Bacolod City Mobile Group
head, said yesterday they will file charges for malicious mischief
and disobedience to agent or person in authority against the group
of local artist Nunelucio Alvarado.
Police reports said Frederick Maravalles, a younger brother
of a local artist, who was under the influence of intoxicating liquor,
reportedly took off his T-shirt and created alarm and scandal.
Alvarado, meanwhile, told the DAILY STAR in a phone interview
that they settled the damages with the owner of People's Village
bar and he is expecting the case between them and Tubongbanua to
also be settled.
He said he and his companions wrote a letter of apology to
the bar owner because of the incident. He said he assured Tubongbanua
he will shoulder the expenses for the damage on the patrol car.
Tubongbanua said the Terrano Patrol 101 responded at the bar
when a concerned citizen informed them that there was a commotion
in the area. The police brought Maravalles to Police Station 2 for
allegedly creating alarm and scandal, but, his companions formed
a barricade and one of them even lay down on the ground to stop
the police officers, he said.
He said the suspects were under the influence of intoxicating
liquor.
Police reports said Alvarado's son, Borug challenged PO2 Marijana
of Police Station 2 to a fistfight.*DMG
