2 more join battle
for House seats
BY CARLA GOMEZ

More challengers for congressional posts have come up in the third and sixth districts of Negros Occidental.

Senator Franklin Drilon yesterday said businessman Manuel Zayco Dabao, 54, took his oath as a member of the Liberal Party and is running for the sixth congressional seat of Negros Occidental. Dabao, a nephew of Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco, will also be LP district chairman, Drilon told the DAILY STAR.

Dabao is chairman of the board of the Philippine Cable Association.

He will challenge the comeback bid of former Rep. Genaro Alvarez who is running in place of his son, incumbent Rep. Genaro Raphael Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Board Member Reynaldo Depasucat yesterday said he is definitely running for congressman of the third district of Negros Occidental against Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson.

Depasucat said he could run as an independent candidate, run under his old party, Reporma, or join a new party.

Drilon said talks between Depasucat and the Liberal Party were ongoing but nothing definite had been reached on his move to join the party.*CPG
