Bishop seeks
consensus in Pulupandan

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra is trying to help find a consensus to address the concerns raised by Pulupandan residents after the recent issuance to them of notices of eviction, Fr. Anecito Buenafe, Diocese of Bacolod social action center director, said yesterday.

Landowner Magdaleno Peņa has sent notices of eviction to owners of about 2,000 houses in Pulupandan town that he said are squatting on his and his families property.

Peņa said the bishop has asked for a dialog with him that will take place in the few days. Buenafa said the bishop wants to listen to both sides. Earlier he listened to the concerns of the people who were issued the notices of eviction.*CPG
