Bacolod cager hot
collegiate prospect

Justin Chua, a 6-foot-5 cager born and raised in Bacolod, is making his presence felt in the basketball scene Manila's high school.

Following his impressive performances in leagues participated in by Chinese schools, Chua has emerged as one of the hottest prospects and three of the country's top college squads --- Ateneo, De La Salle and Sto. Tomas --- are lining up to secure his services.

The 17-year-old Chua, a junior student, powered Chiang Kai Shek College to the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association crown for the first time in 12 years recently. He also bagged Most Valuable Player honors.

With Chua at the helm, CKSC is riding high on an undefeated season. Chua's accomplishments in Manila were relayed to the DAILY STAR by basketball scout Dexter Dy, who brought Chua to Iloilo Central Commercial High School after studying at Trinity Christian School.

While in Iloilo, Chua tried out for the defunct Basketball Association of the Philippines "Tuklas Taas Program". He transferred to Manila after playing for one year at ICCHS. *CPT
