BY CEDELF TUPAS

Model-actress Margaret Nales Wilson, from Bacolod City, was crowned Binibining Pilipinas-World at the 43rd Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant held at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City Saturday night.

The 17-year-old Wilson, who reportedly studied at the St. Scholastica's Academy before moving to Manila, also won three minor awards --- Miss Photogenic, Watson Style Icon and Miss Ever Bilena during the pageant night that centered on the Chinese New Year theme.

Anna Theresa Licaros, a summa cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines, was adjudged Bb Pilipinas-Universe, while Nadia Lee Cien Shami de la Cruz was named Bb Pilipinas-International.

Licaros, 22, was also declared Miss Watson and Miss Bacchus Energy Drink. Grezilda Ennis Adelantar, who hails from Victorias City, did not make the Top 13.

Leizel Verses was named 1st runner-up, while Abigail Lesley Cruz was adjudged 2nd runner-up.

A profile posted on the Bb. Pilipinas website said that Wilson juggles several stints as a model, actress and MTV VJs. Wilson, who stands 5-foot-9 and measures 34-24-35, is currently starring in GMA-7s adventure series, Asian Treasures. Wilson, whose interests include art, history and rock music, said she hopes to make her mark in the Asian modeling scene, before eventually carving her name in Europe.

The panel of judges included reigning Ms. International Precious Lara Quigaman, former Ms. World second princess Ruffa Guttierez, former Ms. Universe bet Charlene Gonzales, television news anchor Vicky Morales as well as actors Robin Padilla, Alfred Vargas and other foreign dignitaries and businessmen. * CPT
