E.B. Magalona spikers
shine in NOVA tilt

The spikers from E.B. Magalona took the limelight on the second week of the NOVA-NOCSF Age-Group Volleyball Championships at the St. La Salle College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

E.B. Magalona racked seven wins spread in two divisions.

Its 10-Under boys' A division triumphed over St. Benilde School team A, 21-16, 21-11 and went on to crush Silay City with a 21-15, 21-11 victory.

EBM's 10-Under boys' B squad also contributed to the harvest by posting two wins, one against SBS team A, 21-10, 21-7 and one over SBS' team B, 21-5, 21-7.

Volleybelles from EBM's main 10-Under girls' team and its team B also posted one victory each.

The 10-Under girls' squad won against St. John's Institute team B, 25-23, 20-25, 17-15 while the 10-Under girls' squad B triumphed over USLS team B.

St. La Salle's spikers also pushed ahead over the weekend, clinching a total of five victories in two divisions.

The 16-Under girls' category dumped Negros Occidental High School, 25-13, 25-13 while the boys of the 16-Under squad won by default over Bacolod City National High School.

USLS' volleybelles in the 10-Under division pulled off a two-set triumph over QPS, 25-18, 25-11 while its spikers from the 10-Under category won against SBS team B, 21-11, 21-13.

SJI won four games including a match between two of its own teams.

Spikers from the 14-Under girls' squad beat La Consolacion College-Main, 25-13, 21-25, 25-13 while the volleybelles in its 10-Under team C triumphed against SBS team B, 25-18, 25-12.

SJI team A then tackled its sister team SJI team B in the 10-Under girls' division and prevailed with a 25-7, 25-13 win.

Meanwhile, Silay City, St. Joseph-La Salle, and QPS posted three victories each.

The spikers from Silay City crushed SJS-LS, 25-23, 25-11, in the girls' 14-Under category, before tripping Talisay City, 25-27, 25-15, 25-20, in the same category.

SJS-LS volleybelles also put a show, winning against SJI in the 16-Under girls' division, 25-22, 29-27 while the boys' from the 16-Under category posted two straight victories against USLS, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, and LCC-M, 26-24, 15-25, 25-19.

QPS spikers joined the three-win club with two triumphs from its 10-Under boys' team and another victory from its 12-Under boys' squad.

The 12-Under boys' team crushed USLS, 25-20, 25-9 while spikers from the 10-Under boys' division posted victories against SBS team B, 21-7, 18-21, 21-10, and USLS, 21-11, 22-20.

LCC-M won against Maranatha Christian Academy, 25-21, 25-22, in the 16-Under boys' category before beating SBS, 25-18, 25-12.

SBS on the other hand triumphed over USLS team B, 25-19, 25-21, and clinched a three-set match against EBM, 13-25, 25-21, 15-12, both in the girls' 10-Under division.

Victorias City also posted two straight notches with a win over BCNHS, 17-25, 25-19, 25-17, and a triumph against MCA, 25-21, 25-14, in the 16-Under boys' category.

NOHS won over USLS in the boys' 14-Under division, 25-12, 25-16 while the spikers from Escalante City beat SBS, 25-10, 25-12.* PP
