Administrative charges were filed against the mayor of Dauin, Oriental Negros, before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas for his alleged failure to submit an annual budget for the current year.

Mayor Rodrigo Alanano of Dauin submitted the proposed budget for his municipality only on Jan. 8, of this year.

In a resolution, members of Sangguniang Bayan of the town headed by Vice Mayor Frances Lora Araula, said they resorted to legal action by filing a verified complaint with the Ombudsman, for the mayor's violation of Section 318, Chapter 3, Article 1 of the Local Government Code.

Angara proposes
projects with Negros

Senator Edgardo Angara has proposed to undertake two projects in Oriental Negros for his next term in the Senate.

At a press conference at the Dumaguete City Press Club grounds Saturday, Angara said he is willing to allocate part of his pork barrel funds to finance a school feeding and school building programs. The feeding program will be done in partnership with his home province of Aurora, where he has the same ongoing project for elementary school children, and with the Silliman University Nutrition and Dietetics Department.

For the school building, Angara said he will undertake the cost of one school building for every two buildings to be built by the government.

Teves collapses, throws up
during political gathering

A political gathering of Unity Team candidates Mike Defensor, Edgardo Angara and Vic Magsaysay was disrupted Saturday night when Rep. Herminio Teves (3rd District, Oriental Negros) was rushed to the hospital after he appeared to suddenly lose consciousness and started to vomit.

The gathering at the Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City, which was attended by about 200 barangay captains and elected local officials of the second district of the province, was supposed to cap another hectic day of campaigning throughout the northern towns.
