4 killed, 7 injured in
Mabinay mishap

Four persons were killed and seven were injured when the Canter truck they were riding fell off a cliff in Barangay Pantaw, Mabinay in Negros Oriental at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday.

Killed was Ernesto Peruelo of Libertad Extension, Bacolod City, and three persons from Mabinay who were still unidentified as of press time, DYEZ Aksyon Radyo reported.

The truck owned by Arturo Peruelo left for Mabinay yesterday morning to pick up livestock and was on its way home when its brakes allegedly failed, DYEZ added. Himamaylan and Kabankalan rescue teams and the Bureau of Fire Protection personnel rescued the seven injured, many of whom sustained fractured bones.

Injured were Alfredo Claver, 31, of Barangay Ambacan, Hinigaran, and Gerry Gabaran, 45, Jimmy Bombio , 46, Reynan Peruelo 25, Zeus Gomez, Joseph Jornos, 26, and Venancio Querubin of Bacolod City, DYEZ reported.*
