HINIGARAN - The list of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's mayoralty
and provincial board member candidates for the 5th district of Negros
Occidental is finally out.
Rep. Ignacio Arroyo yesterday identified the administration
mayoralty candidates in the 5th district as Carmenia Bascon for
Himamaylan City, Renato Malabor - Isabela, Alberto Nicor - La Castellana,
Hermilo Aguilar - Hinigaran, Alejandro Mirasol - Binalbagan and
Ella Garcia for Moises Padilla.
Arroyo, who presided over the meeting here of 5th District
mayors, vice-mayors, councilors and barangay captains, said their
candidates for board members, will be re-electionist Board Member
Dino Yulo and Isabela Vice-Mayor Melvin Ibaņes.
He also announced that "Kasanga" will be the party-list group
they will support. La Castellana Mayor Enrico Elumba, Hinigaran
Mayor Caroll Guanco, Binalbagan Mayor Emmanuel Aranda and Moises
Padilla Mayor Jose Garcia Jr. are on their last terms.
Arroyo said Aranda will run as vice-mayor of Mirasol, and former
Board Member Nonoy Colmenares as vice mayor of Aguilar.
He also designated Guanco, who will take a rest from politics,
as the campaign manager of the administration candidates in the
5th district of Negros Occidental.
Nicor is the vice-mayor of La Castellana, while Ella is the
daughter of Moises Padilla Mayor Jose Garcia Jr.
Arroyo said they have not yet finalized the running mates of Nicor
and Malabor. Re-electionists Vice Mayor Luz Bayot of Himamaylan
and Moises Padilla Vice Mayor John Deles will also be the running
mates of Bascon and Garcia, respectively.*GPB
