337 NTC tower
parts stolen

The National Transmission Corporation disclosed yesterday that a total of 337 tower parts have been stolen in the cities of Silay, Victorias, Cadiz and Bacolod, in Negros Ocidental.

TRANSCO records revealed yesterday that parts were stolen in barangays Bagtic and E. Lopez in Silay; Brgy. 14, Victorias; Brgy. Caduhaan, Cadiz; and Brgy. Vista Alegre, in Bacolod.

Officer-in-charge, District IV Department Manager Zosimo Briones said TRANSCO will give cash rewards to those who can help in recovering the stolen materials and in the apprehension of the suspects. TRANSCO warned those behind the thefts that they could be charged for violating Section 5 of Republic Act 7832, or the Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994.

Briones appealed for cooperation from local government units, barangay officials, junkshop owners and the local police to prevent the theft of transmission line materials. Those who have information about the thefts may call the TRANSCO at Tel. Nos. 7087123 or 0920-963-5298.*CBM
