Palaro medalists
BY CEDELF P. TUPAS

Close to P.5 million has been earmarked by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental as incentives for Negrense athletes who won medals in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Bacolod City last week.

Coaches, trainers and chaperons of Negros teams who posted at least a third place finish are also expected to receive bonuses that will be handed out by Gov. Joseph Maraņon in a ceremony at the Provincial Capitol at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

More than half of P465,800 or P260,000 will go to the medalists, coaches and trainers in the secondary division, where the Negros contingent hauled 191 gold, 82 silver and 37 bronze medals.

Mulo takes bowlfest lead

Mulo Aircon Services II and Barangay I/ASSFBI grabbed the 1-2 position in ongoing Knights of Columbus Council 5665 Sharp/Panasonic Phils. Invitational Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top's Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

On-BACIBA I is leading in the women's bracket followed by Lady Dragon. After two rounds of action, the Romulo Ramos-led pintopplers smashed 2,050 pinfalls to keep the top position of the 20-team field in the men's division.

Mark Ramos sizzled in the fourth quarter and kept his poise when it mattered as Province of Negros Occidental edged Val Motors, 85-84, Wednesday night to clinch a semifinal berth in the 7th Tan Kek Pin Cup Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Province needed two free throw conversions from Ramos with less than a second left to fashion out the tight victory at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Ramos, the Immuvit Player of the Game, was hacked by Santiago Rapiz while following up the missed free throw of Bert Celis, who pulled Province within a point, after making the front end of his two charities.
