concert for St. Joseph

The Espinos Village Phase I Homeowners Association will sponsor a concert on March 17 at 7 p.m. as part of its annual celebration in commemoration of the Solemnity of St. Joseph, on March 19, a press release from the group said.

Orca, one of the best comediennes from Manila will perform live, backed up by local band The Checkmates.

Tickets for P250 with P50 worth of meal chits are available at Kusina Mia at Tel. No. 446-1704. Part of the proceeds of the affair will be for the benefit of the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade, the press release added.*

Billboard application tightened

The Office of the Building Official in Bacolod City has adopted strict policies in approving applications for billboards, a Philippine Information Agency press release said.

OBO officer-in-charge Teresita Guadalupe said applicants should first get clearances from the Department of Public Works and Highways, City Planning and Development Office and the OBO before they can be allowed to construct billboards.

A city ordinance also regulates application for billboards construction. As of November 2006, the OBO has identified 65 billboards, three of which collapsed with no casualties reported, the press release added.*

Bank to open Bago City branch

The newest branch of the First Community Bank Inc. will be inaugurated on March 10, at 3:30 p.m. at the corner of 1st and Araneta Sts., in Bago City, Negros Occidental, a press release from its Board of Directors and officers said.

Mayor Janet Torres, FCBI president Lawrence Villanueva and members of the Board will cut the ceremonial ribbon. The blessing will be officiated by Fr. Ireneo Gordoncillo of the St. John the Baptist Parish of Bago, the press release added.*

Election forum for media
practitioners set tomorrow

The Negros Press Club will hold an "Electoral Education Forum for Media Practitioners" that will focus on the Fair Elections Act, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow, at the Function Hall of the Negros Occidental Capitol, in Bacolod City, a press release from the club said.

Provincial Commission on Elections supervisor Jessie Suarez will be one of the invited guests.

The forum is also aimed at informing members of the media of their role in shaping public opinion and strengthening people's perception of various issues related to the May 14 local and national polls, the press release added.*
