cardiac arrest

A member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Maydulong, Eastern Samar suffered cardiac arrest in his hotel room and was declared dead on arrival at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital Dumaguete at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

SBM Nick Montes, 53, married, had checked in at Room 7, on the 3rd floor of J&J Hotelier, Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City. His roommate was his cousin, Leo Azura, 57, married and also a councilor of Maydulong, Eastern Samar.

Initial reports from Scene of the Crime operatives disclosed that the victim and his co-councilors were on an educational tour in Dumaguete.

The Central Visayas Regional Athletic Meet will be held March 18-24 in different venues in Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros.

The sports competition will be participated in by 14 divisions from Region 7 consisting of at least 500. Dr. Vivian Ginete, chief of the Physical Education and School Sports Division of DepEd in Central Visayas, said they have conducted an ocular inspection on the playing venues and the billeting areas for the delegates.

She said the province is 80 percent ready to host the CVRAA.

E-Card Plus issued

The Government Service Insurance System in Dumaguete City is holding enrollment of its members to the E-Card plus as replacement of their old e-cards.

GSIS Branch manager Erlinda Roma said a mobile team is visiting government offices for the enrollment, schedules for which have been posted in different agencies in Oriental Negros.

All employees of the province will be enrolled until March 5 at the 3rd Floor of the Convention Center in Dumaguete City. A geometric reader for fingerprint identifications and photo capture are being used. Upon enrollment, members are required to surrender their old E-cards.
