Consumido's victory was relayed to the DAILY STAR by Cauayan-born national athlete Arniel Ferrera, who also said he will step up his preparations for the Southeast Asian Games as soon as he gets his detach service order from the Philippine Air Force general headquarters.

"I might start training in Baguio next week if I get my release papers," Ferrera, who holds the SEA Games record in hammer throw, said. Ferrera already has two SEA Games golds to his collection, including his initial victory in Vietnam in 2003. *CPT
