Two die in head-on
crash of motorcycles
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

Two Bacolod residents were killed when their motorcycles crashed head-on in Bacolod City at about 11 p.m. Thursday, police reports said.

Ralph Placido, 21, of Purok Roadside, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, was declared dead on arrival at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center while Dennis Albay, 27, of Purok Masinadyahon, Brgy. Bata, also in Bacolod, died on the spot.

Both were not wearing safety helmets when the incident occurred, PO3 Roy Abadilla of the Bacolod City Police Office Traffic Management Unit said.

Placido was going to Bacolod while Albay was headed towards Murcia when they collided along the four-lane Bacolod-Murcia Road in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Abadilla said.

He added that Placido might have switched lanes, which caused the collision.

"If they were just driving along on their respective lanes, there could have been no accident," Abadilla said. He also said that the poor lighting in the area could also be a factor in the crash, noting that the Bacolod-Murcia Road is an accident-prone area.*PP
