Fire hits stall at mall

An unattended potato fryer caused a fire in a department store in Bacolod City yesterday, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

FO3 Cornelio Silva said the fire at Lopue's East started at about 9:30 a.m. yesterday after a Potato Corner crew apparently forgot to unplug the potato fryer, of their stall that still had cooking oil in it.

Mall employees called the bureau when they noticed the black smoke coming from the stall area. No casualties or injuries were reported during the incident, the bureau also said, and the department store resumed operations after the flames were put out.

The BFP, however, said that it could not assess the damage of the blaze as of press time yesterday as they are still investigating further the incident.*PP
