Anonymous complaints
on labor heard

The Department of Labor and Employment will act on complaints, even from anonymous sources, against establishments for violation of labor standards.

Chief labor and employment officer Jose Ogang said, his office has received several complaints, mostly about underpayment of salaries and wages in Oriental. Negros

Reports reaching the DOLE disclosed that some employees are told to sign blank payrolls. Ogang said padding of payrolls could be double-checked by conducting on-the-spot interviews with concerned employees.

The DOLE is also conducting advocacies on establishments employing less than 200 workers to appraise them of the provisions of law, entitlement of the minimum wage, rest day, holiday pay, overtime pay, among others.

Ogang said the DOLE also conducts briefings on graduating students for them to be aware of the minimum wage law while scouting for jobs as soon as they graduate from college.*JG
