Most wanted in WV falls
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The number one most wanted person in Western Visayas, a Negrense with a reward of P300,000 for his arrest, gave up to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, after more than two years of hiding, police said.

SPO1 Rosendo Bersal, 601st CIDG investigator, yesterday said Alejo Abad, alias Titot, who surrendered recently to the CIDG regional office, is still undergoing tactical interrogation.

Abad is facing murder charges, for the fatal shooting of SPO1 Walter Mendoza, a former member of the Bacolod City Police Office Traffic Division, in Silay City, several years ago.

Chief Inspector Calixto Mabugat yesterday said Abad was denied bail by Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Banzon, who also issued the arrest warrant for him on March 17, 2003, for the crime of murder.

The PNP had offered P300,000 for his arrest.

Bersal said Abad admitted they were already tired of hiding from the authorities.

Police investigations also showed that Abad and his brothers had also figured in a shootout with Himamaylan policemen at the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City, in previous years.*GPB
