| Two suspects in the brutal killing of a 13-year-old student were
picked up yesterday for questioning by the police in Brgy. Bacong, Bago City,
Negros Occidental. Supt. Alex Belonio, Bago police chief, said they have
invited Jose Sedayon and Efren Fria for questioning, in connection with the death
of Ma. Teresa Medrano whose body was found floating in the creek near her house
in Purok Pag-asa, Brgy. Central Ma-ao, Bago City. Belonio said the descriptions
of the two suspects matched with those provided to them by witnesses.
Belonio said they have also discovered that Fria has also been charged in court
for rape, although the arrest warrant has yet to be issued against him.
The body of Medrano, 13, and a student of Ramon Torres National High School, which
bore multiple hack wounds, was already in an advanced state of decomposition when
found by a rice farmer. Initial autopsy reports of the Bago City Health
Office showed that the victim had a hack wound in the neck and slashes on both
cheeks. Belonio said they have yet to determine if the victim was sexually molested.
Belonio said the two suspects vehemently denied any involvement in the
brutal killing of Medrano. Medrano was reported missing by her relatives
on Saturday, after she watched television in the neighborhood. Sedayon
and Fria will be presented to witnesses today for identification purposes at the
Bago City Police Station headquarters.*GPB back
