2 more apprehended for drugs
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Two more drug personalities were placed behind bars for selling prohibited drugs in Oriental Negros.

Dandy Rebante, 27, single, of Guihulngan town, was nabbed with one sachet of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money in his possession during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City Wednesday morning.

National Bureau of Investigation agent Miguel Dungog said operatives of Task Force 24 conducted a buy-bust operation, but persons in the neighborhood tried to snatch the suspect from agents who arrested him, resulting in a minor scuffle. Agents had to fire warning shots so the individuals protecting the suspect would disperse. Rebante had served five years in jail for selling shabu in 1999 to 2004, under the old drugs law, Republic Act No. 6425. He admitted ownership of the confiscated items.

On the other hand, another suspected drug peddler was also arrested in a buy-bust operation, also in barangay Looc. Arrested for violating provisions of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was Vincent Teves, alias "Tilap", 36, single who refused to give any statement.*JG
